Parts of a scooter can be confusing if you are new to it all, we have made a diagram below to help you identify which part is which
Handlebar Grips
These go on the bars for comfort and to help you grip with your hands. They come with bar ends that neatly finish the look although you can sometimes buy these separately to customise your scooter further

Bars
The bars are the part that gives the scooter its height. They are also known as Y-Bars or T-Bars this is dependant on the shape that the bars make at the top. For example the ones in this image would be known as y-Bars because they look like a "Y"

Clamp
Clamps come im a wide range of sizes and colours, some are standard some oversized (this just refers to the size or bars that they need to go over, some oversized clamps will also come with a schim which will allow you to use them on standard sized bars. Some designs are called "quad clamps" this refers to the fact that there are 4 bolts on the clamp. Here at Team Dogz we do a funky "grenade clamp" this is a clamp which is shaped like a grenade. Clamps are very important in making your scooter safe to ride

Headset
The purpose of a headset is to allow the bars to spin effortlessly through 360 degreese
Forks
Some forks are "Threaded Forks" and some are "Threadless Forks" this simply refers to if the fork has a thread on it or not. When buying forks check that they are compatible with the wheel size that you want to use weather it be 100mm or 110mm as some forks will not cope with the larger wheel size
Wheels
Wheels come in various profiles and some are better at certain scooter tricks than others. The core of the wheel will generally be either nylon or alloy core. Alloy core wheels are infinately stronger and of better quality
Bearings
Bearings will have an ABEC rating, the higher the rating is the smoother the ride will be
Deck
The Scooter deck is the main part of the scooter and therefore weight will be a very important consideration for those doing advanced scooter tricks. When you buy a scooter the deck will come with a grip tape on it, you can change this isf you wish. If you buy a deck on its own and the grip tape is not included then you will need to buy one for safety purposes.
Grip Tape
Because different decks are a different shape manufacturers make certain grip tapes that will fit your deck but sometimes it is possible to carefully edit a pre cut grip tape to fit your scooter. You can also buy grip tape that is not pre cut in which case you would need to make all the cuts yourself which can be tricky.
Brake
Brakes are obviously very important and come in many differnt shapes and sizes, some are metal which is obviously sturdier and longer lasting than the plastic brakes

Additional Scooter Parts / Add Ons / Upgrades
These go through your front and or rear wheel via use of a bolt. You can have then either one side or both (again this will depend upon the tricks that you want to be able to do on your scooter).
Wearing a helmet when on your scooter, especially when learning new tricks is very important as a scooter deck to the head can really cause you serious damage as can the edge of a scooter ramp!
Whenever you are buying parts for your scooter remember to check that they will fit to your existing scooter to help you a chieve the scooter tricks that you are aiming towards
